Over the course of the past years, we have observed that many customers find it difficult to justify the cost of a highly expensive software development team to create a premium dedicated 3D product. As a result, they often settle for inexpensive 3D solutions that look subpar or revert to static, old-school images that lack appeal. However, we are excited to share that we have developed a solution that offers comparable functionality to a fully 3D-rendered application while remaining cost-effective. This breakthrough allows customers to enjoy the benefits of a dynamic and visually appealing experience without breaking the bank.

Our approach highlights the exterior of the development within its surroundings, facilitating easy navigation and displaying apartment availability. We seamlessly connect specific apartment views or level views, creating a smooth and intuitive customer sales journey. This cohesive experience ensures potential buyers can effortlessly explore the development and make informed decisions.

The entire process of developing such an application begins in Unreal Engine 5. Starting with a 3D model created from scratch, we meticulously design the surrounding environment.

This stage of the process is particularly intricate as we strive to achieve stunning visual quality from all angles, akin to static renders. For this specific project, it took us over 400 hours to achieve the desired result.

We selected Unreal Engine due to its unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering 3D artists. Features like nanite and lumen provide us with the tools necessary to create scenes where concerns about polygon count and the laborious process of lighting and reflection baking become obsolete.

By adopting our approach, all visual assets are delivered by a single cohesive team, eliminating the need to spend time on administrative tasks and the hassle of chasing multiple suppliers for deliverables. This streamlined process ensures efficient communication and allows you to focus on the core aspects of the project without unnecessary distractions.

The customers have the ability to fly-through typical apartments and experience interactive living space walkthroughs for various floor plan layouts. In addition, they can utilize our real-time color and material configurator, allowing them to make instant changes and explore different design options. This immersive and dynamic experience empowers customers to visualize their ideal living space and make personalized choices in real-time.

The successful execution of this project would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our team of skilled programmers. They have developed a range of tools specifically tailored for Unreal Engine and its surrounding ecosystem, enabling us to streamline the entire process and facilitate rapid iterations.

 

Our internal tools include features such as automatic cloud rendering, allowing for efficient and seamless rendering processes. Additionally, we have created fully generic web templates that enhance the user experience and provide a versatile platform for showcasing our visual works. With these tools at our disposal, we are equipped to deliver exceptional results while maintaining a high level of efficiency.

Once the scene with the environment is ready, we proceed to create a series of cinematic shots using Cinematics. This step is crucial as it requires precise attention to transitions, angles, and composition. It typically takes around 100 hours to ensure perfection in each shot.

 

Each cinematic shot goes beyond simple camera transitions, incorporating dynamic elements such as sun movement, grass and tree animation in response to wind, and other variables. Every detail is carefully considered to enhance the overall visual experience.

 

Once the 3D artists have composed the shots, the process is automated using a series of scripts. These scripts extract the Unreal Engine scene and render the prepared cinematic shots. Raytracing is utilized throughout this process to achieve optimal visual quality. The rendered videos are then segmented into smaller pieces and uploaded to the cloud.

 

In our pursuit of delivering the best possible performance, we have discovered that the AV1 codec works exceptionally well for us. It provides superior results while significantly reducing file size by up to 55% compared to the H.256 codec. Remarkably, a single 4K resolution video transition takes less than 2MB of storage space.
